This has been a very creative time for me especially working with Ashley in Mrs. Bradshaw's class.  She let's me know that children have so much potential by the way she works and the way her mind works while putting her story together, this only leaves the future in good hands.  Its so tempting to put words on her paper or correct her mistakes but I hold back and counsel with her until she can see the problems herself.   Ashley and I have been following the 6 Traits for writing her story it is a good guideline and a good paper to go back to when we get stuck.  She has so many stories she has already written two.

When preparing for this story session I wrote my own story and this was good to go back and reflect on my youth.  I suppose I do have a story or two in my back pocket.  When we read the book in our literature circle groups I enjoy the discussion after we read.  I listen to everyone's voice in our group and pretend I'm in a classroom and this is my teacher.  It works for me and it gives me practice to be a better reader.

I especially liked the hand out White Teachers, Indian Children.  The author of this article was really a teacher among indian youth and she gave very good advice about how to work with Native children.  When I listen to Eldrena Douma and Lucy Tapahonso they tell stories of their culture and it teaches about indian lives and its good.  Natives can find connection in all their words and use this as they approach their own school work.  There are alot of experiences to share and learn from in our own culture.  Now when children can apply how they live and how they think to what they are studying in school, academic success can happen.  I really believe this!

The Red Apple Transit showed me the diversity of our town and its good to see because this is what I will be working in.   I am working for an 'A' in this course and I will continue to do the work necessary to get that.  Frances, I sure like your team teaching with Charlotte.  I look to both of you as professors and I can see different attributes that are strengths, it's something I can reflect on and work on for myself.

The Barnga game we played was so confusing at first but from this I see that everyone has their own way to learn and different understandings of the same material given.  We don't all learn the same way and this is what we have to see in our own kids when we are in a classroom.  People do learn but they learn in different ways and hear in different ways.  I have to be respectful of those differences.    It's been fun to be in a pilot program with Charlotte Bradshaw's classroom.  This 'hands on learning' to be a teacher with a student is great for me.   When we gather as a class and talk about our students it's helpful for me to see their struggles so that I may learn something from them and know what to do in a similar situation.  Class has been great this semester ....it's working.    Alberta
